North East Disability Sports Awards nominations

Nominations are now open for the North East Disability Sports Awards.

The event, which will take place on Wednesday 22 February 2012, is made up of six categories:

• Male Personality – This applies to a male who has achieved sporting excellence at regional, national or international level.
• Female Personality – This applies to a female who has achieved sporting excellence at regional, national or international level.
• Young Male Achiever – For boys aged 18 and under (at 31 December 2011) who have been successful at club or regional sports events.
• Young Female Achiever – For girls aged 18 and under (at 31 December 2011) who have been successful at club or regional sports events.
• Club of the Year – An inclusive mainstream or disability sports club which has significantly progressed opportunities for disabled sports people.
• Service to Sport Award – An individual, administrator, coach or official who has made a voluntary contribution to disability sport at a local level.

Coachworks 2011 registration now open

Registration for the Coachworks 2011 Coaching Conference is now open.

The event, which is due to be held at Kingston Park Stadium in Newcastle, is an evening of development and networking opportunities for coaches in sport.

Delegates will have the chance to attend two out of the four workshops that are taking place. These are School Sport – The New Landscape, strength and conditioning, coaches working in the 16+ environment and funding.

The cost is £15 for members of NE Coach – Tyne & Wear and £30 for those who are not registered on the system. If you want to secure the reduced rate you can sign up to NE Coach – Tyne & Wear for free by clicking here.
